Aditya made his acting debut with Vipul Shah's London Dreams (2009), and later gained visibility for his roles in the 2010 films Action Replayy and Guzaarish. His solo lead film Aashiqui 2 was a mega success in which he portrayed the character of an alcoholic singer. He was next noticed in the Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone starrer Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani, again playing an alcoholic. He was recently seen in Dawat-e-ishq with Parineeti Chopra. He is the younger brother of Siddharth Roy Kapur and Kunal Roy Kapur. Vidya Balan is his sister-in-law.

This song along with "Tum Hi Ho" became very popular and was a chartbuster all over India.[1] The song is picturised on Rahul Jaykar (Aditya Roy Kapoor) performing at a music concert, while the female version of the song is picturised on Arohi Keshav Shirke (Shraddha Kapoor) performing at a local bar.

[edit]The song was recorded by Ankit Tiwari at the Phat Box Studios, Andheri (West), Mumbai. Pankaj Borah is the recording engineer of this track. There is also a female version of this track sung by Shreya Ghoshal which was also well received. Though the female version of the song uses the same lyrics and music as that of the male version, the difference lies in the instruments used. While the female version is supported by instruments like ghatam, flute, santoor and acoustic guitar, the male version features electronic distortion guitar, bass guitar, zitar and drums.[2]
